Aruchamy Lakshmanaswamy MD, DCH is an Associate Professor in Paediatrics at Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He obtained his MBBS degree in 1989 and DCH in 1992 from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was awarded the degree of MD (Paediatrics) at Madras Medical College, Chennai, in 1997 and subsequently worked as an Assistant Professor in Paediatrics at Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore; Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem, Tamil Nadu. Later he worked as an Associate Professor at Vellore Medical College, Tamil Nadu. In his teaching career spanning over 30 years, he has authored several books for medical and paramedical students and practicing paediatricians such as “Practical Pediatrics” and “Textbook of Pediatrics” and is quite popular among the students for his teaching skills and analytical approach. His books are recommended for the training syllabus of District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) under Rashtriya Bal SwasthyaKaryakram (RBSK) programme under National Health Mission (NHM) throughout the country. His exemplary services in the field of paediatrics had won him an award “Excellent Services in the Field of Medicine” at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem, in 2008.
